Carol Dunitz, Ph.D.

Carol Dunitz was graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Speech and English several months after she turned nineteen.  She went on to earn her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Speech Communication and Theater at Wayne State University.

Dunitz started her career in communications by following her own advice to clients, meaningfully differentiate yourself from the competition. She mounted an unorthodox advertising campaign in Crain’s Detroit Business through which she marketed her creativity. Every week she appeared in the display classified section with a new disguise, forever reinventing herself.

The ads ran for years and elevated her to cult status in the business community. She was often stopped on the street, at parties, even at the grocery store and asked for her autograph!

For over fifteen years, Dunitz ran a communication and creative services company in Metro Detroit, The Last Word LLC, developing and implementing effective marketing materials for companies and individuals. She wrote speeches for high level executives, books, promotional literature, web sites, white papers, press releases and more.

Dunitz has written eight books including Louder than Thunder, a parable about how to communicate effectively for which a learning guide is available. She has given seminars on numerous communication topics. One of them is based on this book, which focuses on listening. Others deal with issues like Sales & Negotiating and Customer Service.

Today Dunitz continues to write for clients. She is also following a lifelong dream of writing, composing and producing musicals. She toured several years ago in her musical, “Bernhardt On Broadway,” and is planning to tour soon in her new musical, “Mrs. President Lincoln." Dunitz is also working on two more musicals. Working titles for these shows are Whip and Queen of Diamonds.
